The Heart Of It

Valentine’s Day, Love Day, Bacon Day (my sisters name for it), whatever you want to call it, VDay 2021 is just a week away. As the world celebrates love on February 14, we are often bombarded with messages of red hearts, pink hearts, cinnamon hearts and chocolate hearts. All the hearts!!!

So let’s put a PHI spin on Valentine’s day and talk about the heart shaped face. A heart shaped face is characterized by higher cheekbones, a chiseled jawline and a slightly pointy chin. It is often widest in the middle where your cheeks are and then narrow at the chin. But, you could also have a broad forehead or a widow's peak at your hairline, combined with full cheeks and a tiny or pointed chin. However you look at it, heart shaped faces are very attractive for a few reasons.

The heart shape face is generally associated with youthfulness. When we are young, all of our fat pads are high in our middle and upper face. We generally have enough fat in our faces to cover those bony areas, so everything looks soft and you don’t have the angularity that one sees with age. As we age, we tend to lose those fat pads and the ligaments that hold up the face will stretch out. Our faces tend to “fall” and we get that droopiness and everything starts to collect at the lower third of our face in a triangle shape. Botox and Filler to the rescue!

By injecting fillers and Botox in the mid-face and upper face, we can convert a triangle into a heart shape and give that illusion of youth. We can also add Botox to the Masseter muscle to slim the jawline and relax those strong muscles. Adding filler to your chin can improve your side profile and give that cute, pointed chin a more defined look. Please make sure that you see somebody (us PHI-losophers) who understand facial dynamics and facial filling, because if you don’t, you just end up chasing facial lines and that’s never a good long-term investment. Our PHI team can help your aesthetic dreams come true and we are here to only enhance your natural beauty, no matter what face shape you are.

In the spirit of Valentines Day, we asked our PHI-losophers what their WORST Valentines date ever was and well, we think our Jodie Tilley takes the cake on this one.

I’ve had some bad dates in my lifetime, but this one wins for the worst. I asked the new guy if we could stop at the ATM so that I could grab some cash… he was watching from the car as I stood at the atm to get my $ and I actually fully pee’d myself at the ATM and was left standing in a huge puddle of my own pee with no explanation… Unfortunately this P Day was not on V’Day.

No memorable Vdays ….good or bad ?

Worst Vday by far was when my date took me to Swiss Chalet (this would have been fine in the 80’s or early 90’s). But, it’s was 2008!! Ugh!

I got dumped on Valentine’s Day!

Valentine's Day is actually my mommas birthday. I can't recall any disaster dates, but also don't really "celebrate" Vday, we celebrate the best bday instead.

This is an easy one for me. I don’t normally celebrate Vday and can’t recall the last Vday date I had!
So no bad one for me!

Well I actually have never had a really bad Valentine’s Day either. I usually make a really romantic dinner, get a nice box of chocolates and bottle of wine ... for myself.

I was ghosted around Valentine's day, was supposed to go to a wedding in Winnipeg with the ghoster.
I was called in to work a flight about a month afterward from Winnipeg to Calgary ... and guess who was on it and sitting in my section. AWKWARD!

I honestly don't know if I have had a horrible Valentine's Date?! I haven't ever really had a spectacular one either - Maybe 2021 will be the year! Haha.

For a long time I prioritized my girlfriends & friendship on Valentine's Day over my relationships (what can go wrong when you and your friends are sharing food, wine & laughs?!). I always feel like I want to shout out to the single ladies (and gentlemen) on Valentine's Day! Even though I have my amazing boyfriend this year, I still want to shout out to the independent men & women who take the time to celebrate LOVE (whether that's with your friends, family, partners, pet, or just yourself). You don't need a fancy date, flowers, or a relationship to celebrate love. This year more than ever, we need to celebrate that.
