Wedding Day Ready
We have been busy hosting a series of events at the clinic lately. They are such a great opportunity to collaborate with other like minded businesses and meet some amazing members of our community. Last Wednesday we hosted a special group of bride tribes and other bridal & beauty businesses. We had Pearl & Dot Bridal Boutique, Wildly Us Florals, Mountain Mercato and Laura Brows all come together to exchange wedding advice and ideas. The general consensus was that we all wanted to feel like ourselves on our wedding day, but the MOST FABULOUS version of ourself. It is not about being that Pinterest bride, be YOU and just rock it. So if you missed our fab event here are some tips on how to get your skin ready for that strut down the aisle.
Often we plan our dress, our seating arrangement, our honeymoon, but it is easy to forget that you should have a skin care plan as well. Let’s remember your skin is one thing that's often best tackled in advance and with the professionals (US - PHI Medical Aesthetics). We would argue that your skin is as important as your wedding dress on your big day. When your face looks healthy and fresh, it gives you that signature bridal glow, helps you look amazing in your pictures and gives that little boost of confidence. This is why you might be considering amping your skin-care game up a notch and trying injectable options like botox and filler, which can go much further than a face mask or even a really good facial.
Skincare -
Start this process by envisioning how you want to look for your big day. Do you have any skincare concerns? If you have major skin concerns like acne and uneven pigmentation, it’s best to get the situation under control well in advance. At least 6-12 months prior to your big day, come in for a skincare consultation. This is the time to start topicals, like retinols or a hyperpigmentation regimen. Your skin cycle/turnover is about 4-6 weeks, and it’s important to prep your new layer of skin cells ahead of time to see results. It also gives you enough time to pass the purging stage or possible adverse reactions with skin care products. We can start you on a wonderful skincare program that will have you glowing on your big day.
Botox-
Depending on how deep your wrinkles are, you may require at least 2 treatments of Botox to reduce those fine lines and wrinkles that concern you. We suggest coming in 6 months and 3-4 weeks prior to your big day. Six months gives you a chance to see what you like, and then go back for a touch-up before the wedding with an educated point of view.
Dermal Fillers-
Injectable non-permanent fillers are thick gels made out of hyaluronic acid (HA) that go into the skin to replace lost volume from aging or to boost volume any place you’d like to see a bit more oomph. The most common places to use filler are in the cheeks for higher cheekbones, in the lips for a fuller pout or to smooth out little lines, or in the nose or jawline to disguise a bump or tweak proportions. Depending on the area, your goals and results, it may take more than 1 treatment to achieve your desired results. For lips: It takes time to build up! We do suggest the latest 3 months prior to your big day, in case you do experience any significant bruising, swelling or complications (though rare).
Skinboosters-
Do you find your skin to be dull, lax or crepey? Skinboosters are the gold standard for hydrating the skin and creating a smooth, firm and healthy glow, improving the overall quality and texture of your skin. Do you have a strapless dress by chance? This popular treatment is for the face, neck, décolletage and top of your hands. We know a lot of mother of the brides that love this one. This is best after two treatments so look into this one early into your planning.
Belkyra-
If you are worried about that side profile wedding shot, Belkyra may be for you. Belkyra is a fat busting treatment that will permanently get rid of excess fat underneath the chin. Again you will need a few treatments so planning ahead is best.
Last but not least, the week before wedding try to avoid salty foods, excessive carbohydrates and do not overdo your exercise in the week before your wedding as all of these things cause your body to retain water and can result in a puffy face and eyes. Remember to avoid starting any new type of face treatments or skin care products 1 month before the big day! That way you can avoid any potential reactions before the wedding. Get ready for the best skin of your life and these treatments aren’t just for the bride. We see many grooms, bridesmaids and mothers of the brides all getting wedding ready as well.
